How modular kitchen pricing works in India

Almost every kitchen in India is quoted per running foot — the horizontal length of your base and wall cabinets. Two kitchens of the same length can differ by lakhs because the carcass (the box) and the shutter (the visible door) are priced separately. A BWP marine plywood carcass with laminate shutters is the value sweet spot for most homes; acrylic and PU finishes add a premium for gloss and seamlessness.

Countertops are quoted per square foot, and hardware — soft-close hinges, tandem drawers, corner carousels, tall units — is quoted per unit. Labour and installation vary by city, which is why the same kitchen costs noticeably more in Mumbai than in a Tier-2 city.
